IT WAS IN THE THICK OF NIGHT they met, tucked away in a pocket of their world.
Doubts and fears collided as they came together, melting across time’s enigmatic surface. The hours in every day forced them apart, but whenever the night rolled in, the distance between them closed. The chains that forced them apart were discarded in favor of warmth, the searing sensations that warmed their hearts and chilled bodies. They thought of only sunshine flooding their arms, legs, chests and lungs. It was all they ever wanted, plain and simple. But-
The lives they led prevented them from holding hands.
Indecisiveness crossed their eyes. They wondered where the minutes falling off the clock would take them. Wondered if they should even proceed, at the risk of losing everything they built. But the night prompted them to leave the world behind. There was nothing else; just the rush of adrenaline, the taste of vanilla, the simple lightning that came from one realization. They were alive, living and breathing only for each other.
It was a simple truth, their bodies coming together without worries. Without false labels. Clothes were discarded right along with false truth. Kisses were exchanged for thoughts of the day, thoughts of their empire, false smiles and false promises. They were each other’s truth, loving, kissing, caressing. Lost in the silhouette of each other’s bodies.
“Is this really what you want?”
“It’s always what I want. You know that.”
“We can’t keep going like this.”
“It’s all that keeps me going!”
“What if it breaks you, Rick?”
“As long as you’re the one doing the breaking, I don’t mind. Break me. Remake me. I want you to be all there is. Don’t you want the same?”
Ethan Whitefield shook his head, his green eyes laden with doubt, fear. Every thread in his body ached with the need to envelop Rick Cromwell’s body. To have his tongue dance across the blue eyed beauty’s skin. He had wanted this for so long. To be lost in the embrace of a man he loved. Having to pretend he was straight killed him. But destroying Rick was something he could not do. Something that he hoped he will never have to do, Ethan could not throw his life away, his so-called business empire to be with Rick.
He would have nothing to offer Rick after all. What no one knew was that his business empire, Whitefield Industries, was still controlled by his father, Garrett Fredrick Whitefield. Ethan was just the puppet abiding by his father’s wishes. The only reason is father “quit” was to be with wife number four, Colette Whitefield. Ethan had to hand it to that woman. She may have been twenty years younger than his father but she was just as wise and persistent. She appeared loving, but he knew that it was just a mask, a mask that would come right off if she ever found out he was gay.
Ethan mentally shook himself. There was no way he would come out. But could he live in the closet for the rest of his life? Would his life be filled with secrets begging to be exposed? Would Rick be content with their secret life? He sighed. He looked lovingly at the man who made his world go round and whispered,
“I can’t keep going like this. If this keeps going…I don’t know what I’ll do.”
Rick understood. There was a wall of doubt between them, even as the night brought them together. Everything built in the day interfered at night. Rick had a world of problems all his own: his family. But there couldn’t be anything between them. Not at night. Not while minutes were falling off the clock. “You’re thinking too hard, Ethan! Just let this happen already.”
Rick outstretched his arms, body throbbing, heart yearning for the other’s touch. Ethan’s face was awash with hesitation and frustration, but something within him pushed him to sweep Rick into his arms. There was nothing else but the scent of Rick’s body. Time’s fragrance. The innocence of their first nights has been washed away; there is only the fragility of the chains that keep them together.
The billionaire abandoned everything holding him back. His father, his step-mother, his business, his girlfriend, Evelyn Baker. Ethan treated Rick as though he was made of glass, he sprinkled his kisses across Rick’s quivering frame. The heir of an empire rested his hands on top of Rick’s waist. He hovered above him, dribbled kisses across his body in a ritual. In a ceremony that honored the other. Cromwell trembled when Ethan’s tongue struck the cleft in between his ass cheeks. His captor, protector and hero licked him as though he was made of vanilla. Ethan’s tongue, gentle yet ravenous, felt like satin in between his cheeks. Warm, tender, greedy and rich, it was like the sunshine eating up an entire horizon. But it wasn’t always so innocent, so gentle and musical.
Their first time together transcended all boundaries, all expectations. Completely spent, covered in cum, sweat and each other, they drifted off to sleep in each other’s arms. Content with the silence that swept over and through their bedroom. The pocket of the world. Thoughts of what the day would bring slowly crept into both minds, ridding them of the euphoria that had just erupted.
It wasn’t like that in the beginning.
